  • Attending the A Parent’s Guide to Dyslexia class at Greenwood Dyslexia Center was a truly eye-opening and transformative experience, especially for me as someone who doesn’t have dyslexia. This course offered a wonderful explanation on the brain function, social/emotional challenges, and strategies in dealing with dyslexia. It gave me so much insight on how my dyslexic child learns and how the Orton-Gillingham method works. Jeanne was exceptionally knowledgeable, presenting current research in a way that was both accessible and engaging. Complex neurological concepts were broken down clearly, helping even those without a background in education or psychology to grasp how dyslexia affects reading, writing, and overall learning. What truly stood out was the class’s strong emphasis on empowerment. Rather than framing dyslexia solely as a challenge, the course highlighted the strengths often associated with dyslexic minds—such as creativity, big-picture thinking, and problem-solving skills. The practical strategies provided were immediately applicable. The difference in the level 1 reader Pete the Cat book versus the Dog on a Log book was truly amazing and enlightening. Learning the different parts of the English language and how words are formed actually made total sense. I highly recommend this course to anyone—educators, parents, or curious learners—who wants to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals with dyslexia. I walked away with a great understanding of dyslexia and how it affects my child and her day to day life.

  • “Our daughter’s dyslexia  diagnosis was not the beginning or the end.  It only explained they “why” of “what” we had already known for several years.  The first step on our dyslexia journey was finding a dyslexia tutor. Within my first conversation with Jeanne, I knew we had found the person who would be able to break through our daughter’s barriers to reading and writing.  And my gut feeling has proven true over the past year and a half, as Jeanne and my daughter deconstruct and then rebuild language.  With an incredibly kind and patient heart, Jeanne has and continues to teach our daughter in a way that makes sense to her. After consistently reading at two grade levels behind, her most recent testing shows that she is on grade level!  Words cannot describe how exciting it is to watch the mini breakthroughs my daughter has and listen to her apply what she has learned to her reading and writing. There is still more work to be done, and we are so glad Jeanne is the leader of our team through this journey!”

  • “I began taking my six year old to Greenwood Dyslexia about a year ago. My daughter was transitioning between schools and she was noted to have some elements of dyslexia. I have been so incredibly happy with my daughter‘s progress. She went from dreading reading to loving it. The transformation has been exceptional. She now works through words that are at the next grade level. Sadly she has “graduated”, and my daughter already misses her time at Greenwood. They truly had a magically productive friendship. Thank you!”

  • “Alex has been amazing for my two boys! He is diligent, motivating and supportive. He pushes them when they need to be pushed and encourages them when they need encouragement. Our boys have responded incredibly well to Alex and even look forward to his sessions. We utilize his services two times per week and he has been a blessing for my boys. We look forward to many years ahead with Alex. Thank you!”

  • “My 8 year old daughter, May, is dyslexic and has been working with Greenwood Dyslexia for the past seven months.  May has made significant reading progress since she started working with them.  She is transforming into a happier and more confident reader.  Greenwood created a wonderful, supportive and caring environment where May enjoys learning and feels comfortable to be herself.  They have a terrific rapport and we could not be happier that our tutor has come into May’s life!   On top of all of this, May actually enjoys going to tutoring twice a week after school!  It makes life so much easier that it’s never a struggle to go to tutoring.  We highly recommend Greenwood Dyslexia to anyone with a dyslexic child.”

  • “Jeanne has been absolutely incredible for our daughter.  Now that Harper is being taught the correct skills and given the right tools to navigate Dyslexia we’ve seen an increase in confidence and an improvement academically in the classroom.  We are just starting our journey with dyslexia but am confident in Jeanne and her relationship with Harper and feel like this is where she is going to thrive!”

  • “Jeanne believed in my son when many odds were against him and when others did not. My son has struggled his entire life with ear/hearing issues and speech language skills, which directly impacted his reading skills making him far below grade-level expectations. Jeanne was highly motivated to help my son learn and continues to devote quality, differentiated instruction designed uniquely to his needs…”

  • “Mrs. Jeanne Rutgers has played a vital role in my daughter’s success in school. My daughter Mary was diagnosed with a reading disability and has struggled with reading, writing, and spelling throughout her elementary years. When diagnosed she was two years below grade level, with the support and expertise instruction of Jeanne Rutgers she is currently reading on grade level. Not only did her skills develop but her confidence did as well. She could have not made this amount of growth without Jeanne and the Wilson Program. We are so very grateful for her!”
