Meet our Amazing Team

Jeanne Rutgers, M.A. CALP
Certified Dyslexia Specialist,
Wilson Dyslexia Credentialed Trainer
Founder of Greenwood Dyslexia Center

With a heart full of compassion and over two decades of experience, Jeanne Rutgers has been walking alongside children and families on their journey through dyslexia since 2000. She began her professional path as a certified dyslexia therapist and deepened her expertise in 2010 by becoming a Wilson® Credentialed Trainer—one of the highest levels of achievement in the field. Since then, Jeanne has mentored hundreds of teachers in earning their own dyslexia certifications, spreading her impact far beyond her own students.

Before opening the Greenwood Dyslexia Center in 2017, Jeanne served as a dedicated K–5 reading interventionist, where she gained firsthand insight into the early struggles many children face when learning to read. Her passion lies in those transformative moments—the spark in a child’s eye when reading finally clicks, the quiet confidence that grows with each new word, and the joy of watching a once-struggling reader become a fluent, empowered learner.

Jeanne understands that dyslexia affects the whole family, and that for many parents, navigating the world of dyslexia can feel overwhelming. That’s why she is deeply committed to being a source of knowledge, comfort, and support. She is always ready to listen, answer questions, and provide the resources families need to feel confident and equipped.

Starting in the fall of 2025, Jeanne will begin offering parent education classes designed to help caregivers better understand dyslexia and support their children with clarity and compassion. Her mission is simple: to make sure every child receives the tools they need to thrive—and every parent feels hopeful and informed along the way.

When you walk into Jeanne’s world, you’ll find not just a therapist, but a mentor, an advocate, and a warm-hearted guide for the journey ahead.

Ann Gerken
Wilson Dyslexia Practitioner

Hello! I’m Ann, a dyslexia therapist with a deep passion for helping children discover the joy of reading and learning. I hold degrees in Psychology and Sociology from the University of Colorado, and have spent my career working closely with children at various developmental stages. My background includes providing educational support for elementary school students and serving as a preschool teacher, experiences that have shaped my individualized, child-centered approach to education.

I believe every child has a unique learning journey—one shaped by their own strengths, challenges, and pace. In my one-on-one tutoring sessions, I strive to create a supportive environment where confidence can grow and every success, no matter how small, is celebrated. My goal is to nurture not just literacy skills, but also a lifelong love for learning.

I live in Centennial with my husband and our beloved dog, Cooper. We have three wonderful children who keep life fun and full. When I’m not working with students, you’ll find me enjoying time with my family, walking or hiking with Cooper, gardening, or getting lost in a good book.

I’m honored to walk alongside families on their educational journeys, and I’m here to support and empower every child I work with.

Susan Boyd, M.Ed
Master of Education in Curriculum Instruction: Reading
Literacy Specialist
Wilson Dyslexia Practitioner

As a parent, watching your child struggle with reading can feel overwhelming; however, you and your child are not alone.

Susan is a Wilson® Certified Dyslexia Practitioner with a heartfelt mission: to help children with dyslexia build the skills and confidence they need to thrive—not just in reading, but in every part of their lives. With over 30 years of experience teaching middle and high school students and specializing in literacy support, she brings both deep expertise and genuine compassion to every session.

Susan holds a Master’s of Education with a focus in Reading and is trained in the Science of Reading and Thinking Strategies for Reading Comprehension. She has worked extensively with students on READ Plans, IEPs, 504s, and ELLPs, and served on RtI teams to design targeted interventions. For eight years, she also worked as an instructional coach, supporting teachers and leading professional development in best instructional practices. Susan’s approach is grounded in structured, research-based instruction, but what truly sets her apart is the warm, encouraging environment she creates for students and families alike.

Susan understands that dyslexia affects more than reading; it impacts a child’s confidence, motivation, and sense of self. That’s why her work goes beyond academics. Susan celebrates each child’s progress, no matter how small, and helps them see themselves as capable, empowered learners.

A proud Colorado native, Susan enjoys life with her husband, Brad, and their two grown children: Tyler, an environmental scientist in Bozeman, Montana, and Ella, a CNA and student at the University of Northern Colorado. Their dog, Aspen, is a beloved companion on hikes, walks, and everyday adventures. In her free time, Susan loves to ski, kayak, bike, and, of course, read.

If you’re looking for expert, personalized support for your child’s dyslexia journey, Susan is here to walk alongside you every step of the way.

Our Helping Hands

Our corgis are an integral part of Greenwood Dyslexia Center. We thought about conducting research to see if corgis can improve reading, but we didn’t like the idea of having a corgi-free control group. For now, our hypothesis will have to remain untested.
