A CARING PLACE WHERE
DYSLEXIC CHILDREN THRIVE
THE GREENWOOD DYSLEXIA CENTER DIFFERENCE
All of our dyslexia tutors are certified Wilson Dyslexia Practitioners or Certified Wilson Dyslexia Therapists. More importantly, we believe that all children can become readers.
Students with dyslexia learn best when they use a multi-sensory approach. We use the student’s visual, auditory and kinesthetic pathways simultaneously to help him/her overcome language processing issues. This method creates an environment where students are better able to store and retrieve information.
Many people see dyslexia as learning problem, but our experience has taught us that dyslexia is teaching problem. Students with dyslexia require structured literacy instruction that covers phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension. Concepts need to be taught in a logical sequence and students need to be given the opportunity to master taught concepts before moving on to something new.
Parents looking for help, are likely to come across many well-meaning educators who want to provide support for their child. However, these educators may not have the specific training required for working with students with dyslexia.
We are here to help! All of our tutors have completed at least 1-year supervised practicum that has been approved by International Dyslexia Association. Occasionally, we may hire a tutor who is currently undergoing her practicum. Parents will be notified that their tutor is still in her training year.
